Lately, everything feels like too much.

The news. The noise. The nonstop stream of headlines distracting us from what actually matters. We’re watching division grow, while trust shrinks, and uncertainty screams from headlines. It’s no wonder so many people feel helpless. Truth is, even though we may feel we have lost all control, we still have choices.

You may not control uncertainty, but you can control what you let consume you.

It’s easy to fall into the deep well of doom-scrolling. Ugh, I hate when I find myself sucked in. One story after another, and the deeper we choose to go, the more helpless, angry and sad we feel. I’m finally reaching a point where I decided to be informed, not inundated. Being inundated means being overwhelmed. When I became overwhelmed it affected how I showed up. So, I decided to create a tool to help me when I go from being informed to inundated. I have this handy when I get caught up in the noise:

I still get to choose. 

I will not be consumed with things I can’t control.
I can control how I spend my time.
I can control where I spend my time.

I choose to be informed while holding tight to my peace. 

This helps me disconnect from a world that thrives on distraction and fear, so I’m able to reclaim my time and attention as an intentional, necessary act.

Love-led leaders protect their peace so they can lead with clarity, calm and connection.

We can’t lead well by reacting to everything around us. We CAN lead by grounding ourselves in what matters. We can choose clarity over chaos, presence over panic, compassion over control.

So, if you’re feeling overwhelmed step back. Put down the phone. Turn off the news. Stop just reading headlines, that can go south quickly.  Reclaim your minutes, your thoughts, your energy. The world doesn’t need more outrage and finger pointing. It needs more love-led leadership.

And that starts with you.
